Karen MouleKaren Moule, Managing Director, Marketing Strategist, Planner, Copy writer, Organiser and Head Butt Kicker Originally trained as a graphic designer, I was particularly interested in the way design was used specifically for advertising. So I joined the vibrant world of the London advertising agency scene in the mid Eighties, but not as a designer, but as a Media Planner / Buyer for well known brands like Seiko and Pulsar watches, Baileys and Malibu. I had discovered the wonders of planning and buying as part of my 2-week work placement at J. Walter Thompson and I could see how you can plan and buy advertising space in a creative way to ensure your ads stood out from the crowd. |
As it was the 80′s and ‘greed was good’, after a few years I hopped over to the other side of the fence to sell advertising space and worked for a publishing representation house looking after the ad sales for several international and European publishers. This involved several trips abroad and then at the beginning of the 90′s, I moved to Dusseldorf to work for Grey’s media department, MediaCom.
Two years later saw me return to the UK, fluent in German and wanting to understand the other elements of the marketing channels of communications – not just the advertising.
Starting with a small marketing agency in High Wycombe and studying for the Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications at night school, I progressed quickly to a much larger and rapidly expanding JJ Group in Oxford.
Looking after a wide variety of clients from a range of industry sectors for 6 years, I decided that I wanted to work for SME businesses who couldn’t afford London agency prices. I loved to get involved in all aspects of a client’s marketing activity to ensure a cohesive, integrated approach that met their objectives.
With a love for food, scuba diving, nautical archaeology, cycling, the outdoors, sci-fi movies (can you tell?), closely followed by most other sorts of movies, life is hectic as wife to Ashley and mum to Abigail, but I can be tempted anywhere by the offer of a cuppa or a glass of wine!
